Our team is very excited to come sail the IWKC in Valle de Bravo! For Manuela, Casilda and Camila it is especially special since it is the place where we first learned how to sail and where we took our first steps. Although our team is young in age and experience on a J70, we are very much looking forward to learn and compete in this event.
Casilda Flores and Camila Flores both started sailing when they were around 5 years old, and slowly went transitioning from Optimist, to Lasers, 420, and 470.
Camila began sailing lasers after moving out of Optimist and since then has been sailing whatever boat she has the opportunity to. In 2014 she participated in the Juegos Centroamericanos on Snipe with her brother Nicolas. She is very passionate about sailing and will get on any boat she can.
Casilda quickly grew out of Optimist and the two sisters decided to start sailing 420 together, a class almost non existent in Mexico. At the young age of 14 Casilda participated in her first ISAF Youth World Championship with her sister Camila and since then has competed in three more ISAF Youth Championships and is going for her 4th. Both girls are figuring out their sailing plans for the future.
Our frienship with the Solé's goes back to when we were young(er) Optimist sailors and participated in the Texas Race Week. Since then their family has come down to Mexico to sail as ours has gone to Texas. When finding out of about the IWKC we immediately thought about telling AnaClare to join our team.
AnaClare is a very skilled sailor. She was USODA Girls National Champion two years in a row and attented many international events. Manuela is very passionate about sailing and has sailed all around the world on big boats. She also frequently sails the big boat series in Acapulco once a month on bigger boats such as Far 40 and TP52.
